寿司
One of the most popular food of Japan, sushi is actually very easy to make at home.
| 300 | g | Japanese short-grained rice |
| 60 | ml | sushi vinegar mix |
| Assortment of toppings such as tuna, salmon, tamago, etc |
| Wash the rice a few times with cold water until water runs clear. Drain the rice well. |
| Put the rice with 375 ml water in a pan and bring to a boil. |
| Once boiling, put a lid on the pan and turn the heat down and let it cook gently until all the water is absorbed. |
| Turn off the flame and let the rice steamed for 10 minutes. |
| Put the rice in a sushi oke or a large, shallow non-reactive dish. |
| Pour the vinegar mixture over the hot, steaming rice and using a wooden rice paddle or spatula, mix it well with short, quick strokes. |
| Fan the rice while spreading out the rice. Do not use too much force or the rice might get all mushed up. |
| Now you can use the sushi rice to make different types of sushi such as maki, nigirizushi and temaki. If you are not using the rice immediately, cover with a damp tea towel and use within 2 hours. |
